‘Suffragette’ Rocks The UK Vote
With $2.16M In Previews
The Sarah Gavron-helmed Suffragette opened the
London Film Festival last week in its European premiere after bowing at
Telluride in early September. On Monday, it started previews in the UK with
numbers that just keep going up. Pathé UK has the timely period drama locally,
which is being distributed by Fox under their pact (Focus releases Stateside on
October 23). After four days at the polls, UK moviegoers have spent $2.16M
through Thursday. Not only that, but playing on 490 screens, Suffragette
jumped in the mid-week from $423K on Monday, to $562K on Tuesday and $600K on
Wednesday. Going into the weekend, it’s running No. 2 behind The Martian
and coming off the strong early days, Pathé is feeling pretty upbeat.

Daniel Craig will be returning as James Bond in the 24th 007 adventure.
Pre-production on Bond 24 began before Skyfall was released in cinemas. The initial treatment was written by John Logan with final drafts completed by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Jez Butterworth polished off the script. Sam Mendes was confirmed as the film's director early on after Chris Nolan was under serious consideration.
Preparations began in late August 2014 for scenes set in Obertilliach, Austria (possibly doubling for Norway) which will include a ski chase involving 007 and the villain's henchman - Hinx. Shooting in Solden was put on hold when severe weather conditions affected the equipment. The scenes were completed the following day with Daniel Craig. Dave Bautista and Lea Seydoux were also on set and participated in a photoshoot. A car chase is also scheduled to take place in Rome with Bond using a brand new Aston Martin. Actress Bridgitt Millar has been attached to the film as a possible villain. On 4th December, Sam Mendes and Barbara Broccoli announced the title of the movie 'SPECTRE' at a live press conference in Pinewood Studios. James Bond's new car will be the Aston Martin DB10. The MI6 team will include Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear, Naomi Harris and Ben Whishaw as well as newcomer Andrew Scott. Lea Seydoux, whose name has been attached to the movie for quite some time, was announced as Madeleine Swann. Monica Bellucci will be playing the part of Lucia Sciarra. It is yet unclear of the characters' involvement in the story. Christoph Waltz was confirmed as the 'villain', with Mendes being very brief over his details, and Dave Bautista was confirmed as the henchman - Hinx. The day after the announcement, Jesper Christensen confirmed that he would be returning as Mr. White (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace) Shooting began on Monday 8th December 2014 to be released on 23rd October 2015 in the UK.
